QDM History

In 2009 Jacques Engelbrecht started operating in the Eastern Cape with basic occupancy sensors, under the Electro Sense brand trading as Quality Demand Management (QDM). In 2011 QDM undertook a project which involved the installation of occupancy sensors a T5 lighting replacements in 26 Eskom facilities throughout the Eastern Cape. This project, which commenced in early 2011, was signed off by Eskom with an independent verification by Fort Hare University confirming that a massive 54% saving of the total electricity bill was achieved! These outstanding results played a big role in Eskom introducing their lighting rebate packages, which resulted in many more successful projects undertaken by QDM

Since completing our Eskom project, we have done a number of projects which involved not only the installation of sensors, but the installation of lighting retrofits, for which Eskom rebates apply.

In Jacques personal capacity the idea of completely living off-grid was always the ultimate dream. Owning two adjacent properties allowed him to experiment with both off-grid and grid-tie solar solution. This personal project generated a lot of interest from clients & friends; hence the decision was made to include Solar into QDM which caters to both residential and commercial business.

Successful installations completed by QDM include:

Aspen, Eskom Regional Buildings, Fort Hare University, Komga Packaging, Tenneco, Mondelez, Umicore Catalyst SA, Deloitte, Walmer Park Shopping Centre, Rhodes University, Coca Cola Sabco, Continental Tyre, VWSA, Transnet, TFMC, KPMG, Sand River Getaway, Coca Cola Fortune, NMB Municipality.
